I am really lucky to have dedicated space to work in, also known as our dinning room and a few years ago Hubbie bought me a Horn sewing table which I adore and was possibly the best present ever, to go in there. Two years on, I needed more storage space to house my ever-growing collection of fabric, patterns and sewing essentials. My sewing machines seem to be multiplying in the dark! I have 2 Elenas (7000 and Carina) both my mother’s, my machine is the worlds most basic but reliable Toyota and the latest addition is a Brother Overlocker (but we are not friends yet … can’t get the tension right).
Here are the photos of the new cupboard under construction before the Japanese bi-fold doors went on. I really wanted the room to remain multi use so that it could be turned back into a dinning room, every Friday night.
The bottom section of shelves pull out and are stairs. I will post more photos of this next time.
I have always loved Doris Day’s dress style and movies and then I can across this photo of her knitting during a break from filming – what a surprise! I do like to knit but am very slow and have a very limited stitch repertoire pioglitazone.
I saw this fabric (bottom one) on an American fabric swap site and fell in love with it. I believe its called Wingman. It reminded me of my Father who love to make model airplanes as a child. I liked the fact that the airplanes were ‘real’
Finding a pattern to make my ‘memory dress’ was easy as I already had Simplicity 1080 By Dottie Angel and as it had a retro/ granny chic style, that I felt it would work well with the fabric.
I will post further photos of it as this one doesn’t do it justice. I wear it with a red jacket and red shoes and get comments about how unique it is all the time. Still not sure about the pocket fabric, but it is certainly distinctive.
I love it, but it did come up way too big because I forgot to check the ease allowance, but I now have plans to make another one in fabric with Cotton Reels on to remind me of my Mother who was a dress designer and that one will have a better fit.
